Albarossa has an italian and french history.
This is a grape variety wich was created in 1938 by professor Giovanni Dalmasso with the grape breeder Italo Cosmo.
They crossed Barbera with another grape variety called Nebbiolo di Dronero, but Nebbiolo di Dronero is a french variety called Chatus, and for a long time the government, under Benito Mussolini, would not allow this wine to be produced only because it's not an italian grape variety, it's a cross grape variety where one of the parents was french.

Our Rosingana Albarossa is made from grapes grown in Cocconato area, in Monferrato.
The 2 ha. vineyard of Rosingana belongs to the estate of Cascina della Pieve where the calcareous marnes are prevailing.
Because the vineyard is cultivated on the antique roman site of Marcellina, in the former settlement off Cum Cunatu (now Cocconato) we have found the millstone shown on the label to become  a sign of historic territorial identity of this wine and new varietal.
